Phoenix have completed the signing of 2 young Spanish talents Malamin and Musa. Both are highly rated young players by manager Zaf who is excited to see them showcase their ability on the pitch.

He said: Mala is a confident boy with the ball at his feet. He’s had a very good start to pre season scoring a few goals and working extremely hard for the team. Phoenix FC 1ST’s 1-5 Gildersome OB

Phoenix FC played their first ever game in the Premier division today losing 5-1 to an experienced Gildersome side.

Phoenix FC got off to a good start moving the ball well but 3 set piece errors led to 3 quick goals for Gildersome which knocked a lot of confidence in the first half.

After some very good chances Phoenix did everything well but score.

Second half Phoenix came out the same, moving the ball well but were humbled by a couple more goals again from basic errors.

Musa Dukureh got 1 back following some tidy play from Phoenix, a lobbed pass from Anas put Musa through who finished with a cool lob over the keeper.

Phoenix FC got a harsh taste of Premier division football today. Manager Zaf said: ‘The team showed what we’re trying to achieve by playing good football, but in patches and at this level consistency is important. We’re a work in progress and I have no doubt each week we will only get better.’

Phoenix FC play Beeston Juniors Old Boys next Saturday 11 September.

Phoenix FC complete the signing of Arsalan Mahmood

Phoenix have added midfielder Arsalan to their squad who manager Zaf believes is a key signing. Arsalan has had spells across a number of teams in the Yorkshire Amateur League playing with some high profile players.

Manager Zaf was excited to see Arsalan display his qualities in the U23s Bradford Summer Shield final. He said: ‘Arsalan showed some very good passing ranges and confidence on the ball in that final. He brings good experience to our squad, I think he’ll be very important for us this season.’

Club AGM held on Thursday evening

The Club AGM was held in person this year in preparation of the upcoming season, after the last few meetings having been virtual. It was great to have all the coaches and volunteers meeting face to face. A number of new faces were welcomed to the Club. The attendees heard plans for future expansion and the opportunities that lie ahead with a new era starting at the Club.

A number of topics were covered and decisions were made regarding the various age groups. The main focus of this year’s AGM was player and coach development. A total of 20 age groups will compete in the upcoming season.

As is the Phoenix way, there was plenty to eat once the meeting was completed.
